Ace Waterworks & Chlorination6 min read
Before a new school wing, hospital wing, or municipal main is placed into service, the pipe is still a construction surface: cuttings, joint compound, and overnight stagnation all leave a biological footprint. Chlorination is how that footprint is erased—measured, held, flushed, and documented.
Ace Waterworks follows AWWA C651 protocols and the residual and contact-time windows your inspector already expects. We introduce a calculated chlorine solution, verify free residual at representative fixtures, and hold the system until the chemistry has done its work. Nothing is left to a “flush until it looks clear” guess.
Disinfection is not a volume of bleach in a tank. It is a residual you can measure, a contact time you can defend, and a record an inspector can file.
What a typical chlorination day looks like
Crews arrive with injection equipment, test kits, and neutralizing agent already staged. Isolation points are confirmed with the GC and plumber so we are treating the new work—not an occupied wing. Once the system is charged, we sample residuals at dead-ends, roof tanks, and the farthest fixture, then lock the hold.
- Isolate the new or repaired potable work and confirm fill points.
- Dose to the required free-chlorine residual for the pipe volume.
- Hold contact time, re-check residuals, and log every reading.
- Flush, dechlorinate the discharge, and collect bacteriological samples.
Where this service is required
Inspectors typically call for chlorination after new mains, ADA drinking-fountain retrofits, tank cleanings, and any breach of an existing potable system. LAUSD campuses, healthcare facilities, and municipal yards are the sites we see most often across Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire, and San Diego.
